Aidan is a Genius!!

He's already doing sign language! I just realized that 3 or 4 times this weekend he's made the sign for milk when he was getting ready to eat! Definitely no accident, definitely a distinct sign. I'm amazed babies can learn that so young! Yay Bright Horizons!

Entertaining Aidan

Brittany and Brian

We went to Brittany and Brian's wedding last night in New Hampshire and had a blast. Brittany is one of my oldest friends, I've known her for almost 19 years!! It was great to be at the wedding, she and Brian are an adorable couple.

My face looks chubby, but oh well, Brittany looks great!

It's the angle, I swear! :-)

Standing Up!!!

AJ pulled himself up to standing today for the first time! I was so impressed, I'd just put the laundry basket down to do some folding while we played with the house, and he crawled over and pulled himself up!

Here are a bunch more from today, he's just so adorable I can't stop taking photos! GB is clamoring for more but I've got to get ready for the wedding, so here they are:

Morning Playtime

Aidan showed us some great crawling skills this morning, and of course, plenty of smiles. I definitely like this 4 day work week!

Camera Boy

Aidan smiles a lot, so it's pretty easy to get a picture of him with a big grin, but Leigh noticed that he also knows to look at the camera!! :-) I guess he's used to getting his picture taken! Here are a couple of pictures from Aunt Leigh:

Bathtime!

As you can see, Aidan's spirits are still up even with the news that he's broken the seal with a double ear infection.

First Ear Infection

Aidan wasn't himself all weekend, and today we found out it really was an ear infection... in both ears... and one had burst :-( Poor kid!

He managed to find ways to prop himself up while sleeping, I guess because it felt better to keep his head elevated. Smart little guy! Here he is after we went to the pool but didn't actually go swimming. I didn't put him to bed that way!

We had a nice time at Abram and Leigh's for a Memorial Day cookout. Aidan managed some smiles with Uncle Abram!

And he loved seeing Sarai through the window!

He's figuring things out more and more and remembering/recognizing things. Today at school the teachers wrote that he got all excited and smiley when he saw the stroller and knew that he was going to go out on a walk! Tonight he was opening and closing the door on his house to hear the noises.

Trip to New York to see Mira's Gallery

On Friday night we drove down to New York and stayed with Jesse & Anthony, and then on Saturday we went to Mira's show. Aidan did well for the first couple of hours of the car ride, then he had a major melt-down! He had a bit of rough night sleeping too, but eventually morning came and he was happy to see lots of people. I think he was recovering from the food allergy, had a slight fever, and was in the middle of a growth spurt and wanted to eat a lot, so considering how he was feeling he had a great day!

Mira just finished her Master of Fine Arts degree from Columbia. Congrats, Mira!

Aidan had lots of smiles for Max!

Travel monkey came along too!

Another Mira original, around the corner from the others.

We had a great time seeing more of the family. Aidan has now met 9 of his 10 blood aunts/uncles. Next up - Ada! We walked around New Rochelle, we had a picnic out at the harbor near Jesse's house, and we watched Jacinta and Antonia perform their dance routines. It was a really fun trip!

New Tricks

After Aidan had been napping for a while today I started hearing some babbling on the monitor. I went in to check to see if he wanted to get up, and I found him at the other end of the crib, talking to Monkey!! Monkey, Octopus, and Sheep get to sleep in Aidan's crib, but at the other end from where he sleeps. So, it was hilarious today to find he'd crawled over the blanket and around Octopus and sat himself in the corner to play with Monkey.

Trick #1: Getting to a sitting position on his own after crawling

Trick #2: Pulling himself up to stand just holding onto my arm

Trick #3: Carrying things around in his mouth while he crawls. He loves holding onto his blue letter - it's like he's delivering the mail to us :-)

His face has some red marks on it, like some kind of allergic reaction. We put some cream on it that we got from the doctor before, and we're trying to figure out if it was food related. Hopefully we can eliminate whatever caused it.

Best Buds

Aidan has been having a lot of fun at school, and I often get notes about him and Evan playing together, making each other giggle, and chasing each other around. It was cute yesterday where they were both wearing green stripes and looking at each other. They're bald buddies!! Actually, I think Even makes Aidan look like he has lots of hair!

Purgatory Chasm

Yesterday we took Aidan on his first hike - about a half a mile long I think! We went with the other Dancy Clan, although Joey replaced Sarai for this trip. Aidan enjoyed being outside and in the backpack looking around.

Hanging out with Daddy.

I was excited to carry AJ until we got there and realized how rocky it was! So, I let Isaac take the pack instead.

Abram, Rachel, and Tobin coming down from a higher section (we stayed on the flat part while they went up there and Joey sang/screamed to scare the bears away).

He's always a happy boy!

At the end we went to the playground, and Aidan absolutely loved the swing. It does look huge for him, but the way it kind of naturally leaned him forward, he was pretty secure - and I think I only pushed him about 5 degrees up! I'll have to take him to the park in town on my day off!

Lots of blogging lately, but lots of great photos that have to go in the family album, and lots of happenings. We're having a great time in Massachusetts!

Rachel's First Communion

Rachel had her First Communion yesterday, so we got Aidan all dressed up for it! I had a really great time taking him shopping in the morning to get a new outfit and lots of 9 month clothes. I was excited to find a new shopping center really close to here with Carter's, Ann Taylor Loft, Baby Gap, Babies R Us, and Target! I also found a new dress!

My beautiful baby boy!

Joey and Cora flew here from Minnesota and he was so excited to see Rachel!

AJ photos - what else??

Yay, it's Saturday! It was kind of a rough week, especially earlier in the week, with Aidan being really sick and up a lot every night. His temperature spiked to 104F a few times, so he was home from school from Monday to Wednesday, which meant that I ended up working Friday too. Luckily, he's much better now.

This morning I was doing a work-out DVD and of course AJ wanted to be a part of it! It was so cute, he crawled all over me, giving me huge smiles.

He looks like his Grandpa with his Hawaiian shirt on!

On Thursday we took a family photo for Rachel since she needed it for a school project.

He enjoyed riding on daddy's shoulders!

AJ had been practicing drinking water his new sippy cup - he's still not quite sure what to think of it, but he seems to have fun trying.

Aidan @ Seven Months

Aidan's 7-month birthday is today. I barely got used to him being 6 months old, now I have to get used to saying he's 7 months already!
So, right now, AJ:
- has four teeth!
- sits up well
- crawls up and over things with his military crawl
- gets up on his hands and knees, but doesn't yet take any "steps" with his knees
- loves chasing after power cords, cell phones, and anything else we don't want him to get
- likes spinning things, flashing lights, and music
- eats lots of mixed fruits and veggies, started trying some puffs
- likes playing with his cousins that he gets to see more now!

4 teeth and a big smile - looking through the window of his new toy. [Click for a bigger version to really see the teeth!]

He got sent home yesterday with a fever, and even today it was at 104, so we've been pretty busy with that. Leigh watched him today and Chip is going to come down tomorrow to help.

I did have a nice Mother's Day, I didn't get to blog about that with all the weekend events, but Isaac/Aidan got me a nice digital photo frame to have at work for all my AJ pictures. I love it! Isaac made a set of clues and riddles I had to solve to find it. Since I'd barely gotten any sleep that night, it took me a lot longer to figure out than it should have!

Fun with the "Learning Home"

Today we finally built Aidan's Fisher Price Learning Home that GB and Ol' Pa got for him back in Colorado. It has all sorts of really cool things on it and interacts when he opens the door, turns on the light, puts mail in the mailbox, plays with the radio, opens the window, etc. I think he'll get tons of use out of it for a long time! Today he liked crawling through and picking up the balls. Once he can pull himself up and really get around on his knees he'll be able to do more with it.
