Aidan is finally big enough to touch the ground without the pillow, and he loves being able to push off a hard surface and jump! He's just so cute!

Snow Day

The front range is finally getting snow, just in time for spring! We've been in an epic drought this winter down here at 5,000'. I suppose the ski resorts have been getting snow, but I wouldn't be the person to ask -- I've been priced out of that particular activity (a terribly ironic statement coming from a cyclist).


This is a typical morning sight these days. Aidan goes to bed in the center of the crib on his back, but he rolls over and nudges up the side until he's in the corner. I like to think that he prefers the corner because he's looking for hugs from his faux daddy.


Aidan has been diving for the computer keyboard lately, so we decided it was time to get him something to play with. The box says this toy is for 2+ years; so I guess Aidan is playing at a two-year-old level (like the California Achievement Tests telling 4th-graders that they read at an 8th-grade level).

After seeing Derrick and Nola's tricks, Aidan decided it was time to step up his mobility game.

Back from Training Camp!

Isaac, Aidan, and I just spent 5 days in Tuscon for a Blue Sky Training camp! Isaac rode a ton with the guys in the mornings while I hung out with the Corbrahams, then Jennifer and I rode each afternoon.


We rode through a really cool national park with lots of cacti. This one was my favorite. :-)

The camera is still with Isaac - I flew back and packed light, so we'll download them and post more when Isaac is back. There are TONS of cute Aidan photos - he went swimming, to the Zoo, the park...

Aidan @ Five Months

AJ's latest and greatest, at five months old:

- Loves standing up; he'll arch his back and make you help him balance, but he loves being on his feet!
- Grabs your face when you hold him close, especially your nose.
- Likes playing with his feet and trying to suck on his toes.
- He eats orange veggies - so far he likes sweet potatoes best.
- His favorite toy is the Jumparoo - he happily spins all the toys and swivels around in there. He's getting the hang of jumping too, now that his feet are starting to touch the ground without an extra pillow!
- Has both bottom teeth.
- Rolls both ways, and scoots along on his belly

Success! Rolling, Sleeping, and Eating!

Just a quickie since I've been meaning to post since the weekend... Lots of AJ news!



1. AJ can now roll from back to front!! It took only 5 weeks to be able to roll from front to back, and now just under 5 months for back to front.

2. He is getting back to sleeping through the night. He had been at 3 months, then had been up eating during the night a lot since a growth spurt around 3 1/2 months. I think he just developed the habit after that but wasn't really needing the food, especially now with solids. So, two nights ago we tried to break the habit, and then last night he only woke up for a few minutes at 4 am, but went from 9pm to 6am without eating. Maybe I'll get some sleep and sanity again!

3. He's eaten 2 jars of baby food a day since starting with 1 on Friday night, and he even ate lunch at daycare yesterday! I think we're fattening him up again.

A Whole Jar of Baby Food!

First, a super cute pose as Aidan tried out his new sun hat for Arizona. I just love those big eyes!!


And onto the news of the day:
Aidan has still seemed really hungry but didn't ever eat more than about 10 spoonfuls of rice cereal before just turning away and keeping his lips closed. We tried mixing it with formula and with milk and then tried oatmeal cereal instead, but it seemed like he just didn't like the taste. So, tonight we tried sweet potatoes, and he finished the entire jar right away!


"mmm... sweet potatoes! Can I have some more?"


He really was a hungry guy! I couldn't believe he downed the whole jar so quick!

Granny Blake and Ol' Pa...

...came to visit AJ this past weekend! We're getting these weekends down now - lots of eating and playing with Aidan, then Isaac and my dad do house projects while my mom and I shop!


His eyes are still super blue, and he's even growing some hair on top now!


It was hard to share him since I'd just had my first trip away from him, but I think they got lots of Aidan time!
